The Decentralized Global Content Ecosystem

Contentos is looking to create a decentralized global content ecosystem.  Therefore it is no surprise why they are interested in the Korean market.  Korea has not only embraced cryptocurrency but also content creation.  If you take a look at Steemit, you will find a large community of Korean content creators.  Co-Founder, Mick Tsai spoke at Let’s Meet-up! & Blockchain token economy in Seoul which took place October 5th at the Pentarium Hotel.

Contentos is looking to reinvent the global content value system.  “Contentos” in Spanish means happiness and they are looking to bring happiness to global creators through their COS token.

Everyone in Korea, uses at least Instagram, Facebook, or Youtube.  However, the main problem is that they become so centralized that they now control everything.  They not only control what the users see but the revenue generated from these platforms.

Youtube recently stopped paying revenue shares for anyone who has under 100,000 fans.  This means that to even start making a living on Youtube you need to establish a base of at least 100,000 followers which will take time and money.  Facebook had their famous privacy data issue.  There has to be a way to fix this centralized issue.

Contentos is looking to use Blockchain technology to reinvent the whole ecosystem.  Their vision is to create the biggest decentralized global ecosystem for digital content, where content can be freely produced, distributed, and transacted, and where the value and rights will be returned to creators and contributors.

Two Unique Blockchain Designs for the Content Industry

The company is building blockchain that is specific for the content industry.  There are focusing all the performance such as TPS and the resource balancing.  The second part is their smart contract template which will be useful for global content creators who might not have the technical skills to create a smart contract.

Contentos Competitive Advantage

They have a strong network of global content creators.  For the past two years, they have worked with global creators to create a live streaming app called “LiveMe“.  Now they have connections with over 1 million global creators.

ContentosAlso Contentos has already integrated everything with three existing products.  Therefore Contentos is not building something new with no users, instead, they are starting with three existing products such as LiveMe,  Cheez (social media video app), and PhotoGrid (photo editing tool).

This means they will have over 60 million monthly active users worldwide.  Contentos will build a content Blockchain on top of these three products.  They will allow these products to integrate the COS Token.

On their website, users can log in and connect and see all the COS tokens you have earned from the different products.  From here you can transfer your token the website to your ether wallet.  Or later you will be able to transfer the tokens to your crypto exchange and sell it on the crypto exchange.

Finally, Contentos will ask their creators worldwide to build videos teaching people what tokens are and what Blockchain does.  This will help educate massive amounts of users, so they can adopt blockchain technologies.  Contentos will act as the bridge to bring Blockchain to the masses.

While blockchain was once known merely as the building blocks used to make bitcoin, it’s now being hailed as a world-changing technology. The past year has saw a huge rise in companies using the blockchain to form innovative, decentralized businesses. However, one of the largest trends we’ve seen is the prominence of blockchain social media apps.

These apps are unique in that they reward users for the content they create. We’ve all seen how multi-billion dollar companies like Facebook have gained their fortune thanks to the free content that users have uploaded. This new generation of blockchain social media will allow users to earn cryptocurrency just for posting.

Plus, because of the blockchain technology, users data is much more secure.

Although this market is still in its infancy, its already flooded with innovative new apps. I can assure you that you can easily find an alternative for your favorite! To help you get started, though, we’ve put together this handy list of the top 10 blockchain social media app alternatives to watch out for.

Our Favorite Blockchain Social Media App Alternatives

Indorse: A Blockchain Alternative to Linkedin

Indorse is a decentralized professional network for the skills economy. Although it shares some similarities with Linkedin, the innovative interface is completely unique and one-of-a-kind.

Users begin by signing up to the profile and make claims about the things that they’ve done. For example: running a marathon, completing freelance work or graduating from University. Someone in your professional network can then “indorse” you for that skill and enchance your reputation. After this happens, both the user and the indorser will receive an indorse buck, which can then be traded for an indorse token.

The platform encourages users to grow their network, update their skills and validate others in their network, by rewarding them with cryptocurrency. This helps to promote a more honest and reliable professional network.

Foresting: A Blockchain Alternative to Facebook

blockchain social media app alternatives

Facebook is the biggest and most all-encompassing traditional SNS platform the world has seen. And that’s exactly what Foresting aspires to be. This exciting app allows users to upload their own content and be rewarded for it in cryptocurrency whenever they receive likes from other users.

However, this isn’t the only way in which Foresting rewards its content creators. They’re also setting up a service called Foresting Bank. Foresting Bank is a dedicated crypto bank that gives out loans to content creators who need financial help with their projects.

Choon: A Blockchain Alternative to Spotify

Choon is a music streaming service that was launched with the hope of eradicating the music industry’s biggest flaws. The platform’s musicians are paid in cryptocurrency for every track they have played. In addition to this, listeners can also earn coins by listening to sponsored tracks or creating curated music playlists.

Me We: A Blockchain Alternative to WhatsApp

Me We is a chat and text app that prides itself on putting the user’s privacy first. The app doesn’t spy, track or share any of its user’s data.

However, that’s not the only reason to love Me We. The chatting platform is filled with fun features, such as disappearing messages, voice notes, mail and chat options. For further convenience, the app also has a cloud storage feature.

Steepshot: A Blockchain Social Media Alternative to Instagram

Steepshot is a Steemit platform for photographers and influencers to monetize their content. The app looks just like Instagram but, unlike the mainstream photography app, users receive cryptocurrency relative to the amount of engagement they receive on their photos.

D Tube: A Blockchain Social Media Alternative to Youtube

D Tube also runs on the Steemit platform. The video sharing platform is very much modeled on YouTube- but the business model is much fairer towards content creators. Recently, Youtube has made it much more difficult for creators to earn money from ads. Dtube offers an alternative platform for vloggers to monetize their content.

Creators are rewarded with Steem currency, proportionate to the amount of engagement they get on their content. They can continue to monetize their content for 7 days after its publication.

Ask Fm: A Blockchain Alternative to Quora

It’s fair to say that no Q&A social media platform has really taken off in the same way that apps like Instagram, Youtube and Twitter have. However, maybe blockchain technology could change that. Ask FM is a Q&A app built using blockchain technology. The app incentivizes people for answering questions by rewarding them with cryptocurrency for quality responses. Maybe some crypto is just what people need to start using Q&A social media on a regular basis.

Experty: A Unique Blockchain Alternative to Skype

Experty is a unique knowledge exchange platform. The company was originally founded as a platform in which users can pay to connect directly with experts for a knowledge exchange. However, that’s not the only way to use the platform. It can also be used for private voice calls between two parties, Skype.

Rocket Chat: A Blockchain Alternative to Slack

Rocket Chat is a team chat blockchain social media platform that’s similar to Slack. It can be used for team members to communicate. As well as its live chat feature, it also allows users to use video conferencing tools, screen sharing, file sharing and real-time translation.

Rewardzzz: A Unique Blockchain Rewards System

Rewardzzz is a unique blockchain based rewards system that’s aiming to consolidate all global points packages into one handy app. Did you know that $360 billion worth of rewards points are unclaimed worldwide? Rewardzzz aims to counter this by having a wide pool of companies using one streamlined app and rewarding users for their referrals.

Foresting Tech Summit 2018

I was very fortunate to be at the Forest Tech Summit at the Dynasty Hall of Shilla Hotel in Seoul on June 7th.  It was the first big launch event by Foresting who have gotten a lot of attention from the Korean public.  This Blockchain-based SNS platform offers creators and users to earn money through content creation.  Therefore, this will be done through a fair value distribution system.

There was even a panel discussion with two of Foresting’s advisors and myself.  Brian Dixon the COO of Capital Innovators and Richard Klatt, the vice president of partnerships at Indorse flew into Seoul for this event.  They discussed the future changes in Blockchain technologies in not only Social Media but also in Finance.

Foresting Connects the World

What if you can be paid for creating content?  SNS influencers make a lot of money on Instagram, Youtube, and Steemit.  However, those are only the top 1%.  The rest do not get a dime, yet most of the content comes from the general public.  Korean startup Foresting is looking to use the Blockchain technology to create a social media platform where every content provider gets something back.  Those that join do not have to be experts but rather have something they are passionate about.  This will allow anyone in the world to make money and be a part of a community that strives to use social media for good.

ForestingForesting will be different from the other Social Media Blockchain social media platforms.  Their platform will be easy to use and trading of tokens will be fast and easy.  It will support all forms of content from blogs, to images, to videos.  The token will be called PTON.  This will be the token used to pay out to content creators.  However, this platform is so much more.  They offer a banking service called Foresting Bank which will have their very own unique credit rating system.  The credit rating system will be based on the user’s value within the ecosystem.  Think about it.  If a user’s credit is low in the real world….they will be able to start fresh at Foresting.

Korean Startup ForestingIntroducing Foresting Bank

Foresting Bank will offer digital banking services for their content creators.  They will have a credit rating based on the user’s strength within this community.  Users will be able to build their credit on the platform and then be able to utilize the Bank to take out loans or for financing.

Finally, they will set up a revolutionary system for social change called the Foresting Foundation.  This will be a non-profit crowd donation system to help the community.  The first plan is to set up an offline shared working space for content providers.  At this co-working space, content creators will have access to cameras, videos, computers, and other content creators for possible partnerships.

Foresting will be the next evolution in social media.  It will be a place to network, connect, interact, and get rewards.  They are looking to take the power out of centralized social media platforms and give it back to the people, the content creators.  The CEO of Foresting Daniel Eom recently gave a presentation at BitForum 2018 Spring.

Foresting “Through Foresting, realize the value of a new life.  Work four hours, communicate with the world, and lead your own life.”

What separates Foresting form Steemit will be their efforts to make sure there is a fair value distribution system in place.  This way there won’t be a handful of “whales” reaping all the rewards with nothing left for the other contributors.  “The rich get richer” idea of social media influencers will be completely changed.
