Korean Startup FRIFEE Creates SWIPS for Real Sports Fans

For Hardcore Sports Fans

Korean Startup FRIFEE INC. which was established in 2015 by hardcore sports fans to give real fans the fastest and most accurate data related to sports.  Since sports are played all over the world, FRIFEE is truly a Korean startup that has the potential to go global very quickly.

Introducing SWIPS

With technology advancing so quickly, sports data needs to be handled a lot differently.  Sports fans can now access many kinds of data analytics related to sports from key individual statistics to live scoring updates with SWIPS.  SWIPS is a mobile sports portal that will help make FRIFEE a sports marketing company.  They will be able to provide tailored sports content for the user.  This personalized content will be generated by data analysis.  With the help of social media, a sports fan community will be created to help establish fan clubs, chat rooms, and polls.

Huge potential

There is a tremendous opportunity for growth because sports is truly a global industry with fans all over the world.  These fans have “superfans” who are crazy about their favorite team.  This is why the global sports market is a $147 billion dollar industry.  Furthermore, it has an additional $46 billion coming from sponsorships.

3rd party apps have already been a success in North America and Europe.  However they have not fully taken off in Asia and especially in Korea.  FRIFEE could start by dominating the Southeast Asian sports portal app market and look to expand into the whole of Asia as well as South America.  The main focus, in the beginning, will be Indonesia, Vietnam, and Thailand.

What can you do on SWIPS?

  • you will be able to follow your favorite players
  • get personalized notifications in your language
  • vote and take polls on fan boards
  • chat with fellow sports fans
  • get news and video content that are tailored to your preference

While there are a lot of apps that provide live scores and updates, SWIPS will be able to offer a more personalized content for a better user experience.  Also, it will be various languages. Therefore you will be able to chat with fellow sports fans in the language you are most comfortable with.

The personalized content will be based on SWIPS’s multi-model database that will be customized based on machine learning.  Data shows that more and more people are starting to use SWIPS.  Once they hit 1 million users in Southeast Asia, they will look to expand into Asia in order to hit 10 million by 2020.  Once they become the best marketing channel for global sports brands, sports sponsorships will be relatively easy to get.  Then the options for FRIFEE will be huge with the potential for e-commerce, media, and marketing.  It will be very interesting to see if FRIFEE can become the #1 mobile sports portal but based on what we have seen so far, it looks promising.
